July 15,2010 Greetings
to all BTWHS Alumni: I am
honored to address you as your National President for
the year 2010 – 2012 term. I greatly
appreciate this opportunity to share a portion of my
biography with you to give you all a little insight as
to who I am . I was born
in Garland, Arkansas, the 16th child of
the late William T. and Luerene Townsel. I graduated from
BTWHS class of 1963. I attended Detroit Business
College in Detroit, MI where I studied Stenography and
court reporting. I was introduced to Histopathology/Histo-chemistry at St.
Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana, Arkansas. I continued
my studies in Histopathology at the Henry Ford
Hospital, Detroit Michigan. I attended the Providence
Hospital School of Histopathology,a subsidiary
of Wayne State University in, Southfield, MI. I
received my (HTASCP) Board Certification with the
American Society of Clinical Pathology in 1968. I
retired after 42 years of dedicated work in my field.
During my 42 years of service I had the pleasure of
owning and operating the Cyto-Histopathology service
laboratory of La Puente, CA. and the Mt. Tabor Cyto- histopathologicDiagnostic
Health Awareness Center of Los Angeles Ca. I have
been married to my wife Gloria for 48 years. We have
three children , Donald ,
Timothy James and Sharon, all of Southern California. I am a
member of the United In Christ
Baptist Church of Apple Valley, Ca. where I serve as
deacon and musician. I give
high praise to the members of the BTWHS Alumni
Texarkana chapter for the outstanding job you did in
hosting the reunion July 15th – 18th ,2010. Our Alumni
organizational structure is sound and strong enough to
address the challenges facing us. I agree with
previous National Presidents that our top priority is
to address our decreasing membership. I welcome your
input and ideas to increase and stabilize our
membership. We have a great legacy and we are standing
on the backs of those who so proudly carried the torch
before us. I am working closely with the
local chapter Presidents to meet the challenges before
us and to maintain this legacy.I have met
with the National Officers and members of the Executive
Committee and we are dedicated to moving our Alumni forward.I am honored
that you have trusted me to serve as your President .I
put my trust in God that He will guide our Alumni in the
right direction. I look forward to working with all of
you. Sincerely,
(760)241-6968
